Software Engineer (iOS/MacOS)

In-office / Brooklyn, NY.

About the role

We're hiring a senior iOS/macOS engineer to ship inside our iOS codebase and lead the macOS app. You'll work directly with our founding iOS engineer and the design team. You'll also have room to push local execution of music AI models on the Mac.

What you'll do

  • Design and ship features across iOS and macOS with engineers, designers, and the founders

  • Lead the macOS app

  • Run AI models locally on the Mac

  • Own performance, quality, and responsiveness

  • Find bottlenecks and fix bugs across the stack

  • Raise the bar on code quality, testing, and engineering process

  • Fluency in Swift and Objective-C

  • Experience connecting iOS apps to backend services

  • Strong grasp of iOS frameworks, design patterns, and the full mobile lifecycle

  • A complex client-side system you personally architected and shipped. you can explain every decision, what you chose not to do, and what broke

  • Shipped real work at startups or small teams

  • Side projects or apps you've put into the App Store. things you built because you wanted them to exist (the bar is something like our founding iOS engineer's music practice journal app, which has 30,000+ downloads and a 4.9 rating)

  • Exploratory communication. you think out loud, name tradeoffs, stay low-ego when corrected

  • Comfort with ambiguity and high autonomy. nobody here is going to assign you work

  • Passion for craft. you treat UI like art

Bonus points

  • Core Data, Core Animation, and other Apple frameworks

  • Cloud message APIs and push notifications

  • Strong opinions on UI/UX

  • Performance and memory tuning

  • Audio engineering experience

  • Outsized love for music

  • Comfort designing async server systems (you'll be asked to in the systems interview)

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Opportunities for professional growth and development

  • A small team that actually works together

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary

  • Competitive equity package

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
